The Ecstasy of Stillness
I love constellations so much that I would “do” them all the time.
But I can’t.
After the first day of constellations in Cologne (Germany), I collapsed in the evening, and on Monday, the day after after the second day of the workshop, I could barely do anything except wandering the city streets and riverbanks, thoughtless, enjoying the slow movement of my body, the air, the sunshine, the closeness of the majestic river Rhine, the languages whose words I don’t understand but I hear and feel their music – while letting the universes of the 14 constellations of the past two days echo within me. Along with the echoes of my own connections and the taste of my own unfolding personal healing sentences.
For example: “I tear down my walls.” The ones I carefully and meticulously built around myself over the past 50 years. They no longer serve me. Fear does not serve me.
Before my trip to Cologne, I had been to Germany twice, but both places actually are outside time and space (Benedictushof and Hokuozan Sogenji), so it didn’t even feel that I was in Germany. Just like how someone who visits the Szeklerland in Transylvania sometimes might forget they are actually in Romania. Or just like how someone visits a Tibetan village in the Himalayas and might forget that he is not in Tibet but in India.
Hungarians in the Cologne region are a bit like Hungarians in Transylvania. They speak the local majority’s language, but not necessarily. They live their day to day lives there but they don’t necessarily connect too much with the majority. There are mixed relationships or marriages, and the children learn Hungarian, but not necessarily. They follow the happenings in Hungary back home, but not necessarily. They love the country they live in, or not necessarily. They feel homesick, or not necessarily.
And above all: they all want to love. To thrive. To be loved. To move forward, to grow. To connect. Through the language of the soul, of the heart.
In constellations, all this is spoken through the thousand languages of the heart. The archetypes emerge, along with the thousand-colored forms they take on.
The soul gazes upon itself through a thousand faces. God looks upon Himself in a thousand shades and a million ways, speaking, whispering, singing the healing sentences — and all of them speak of love and longing, for those who have the ears to hear.
Every constellation, every connection, every moment is an opportunity
for the glory of God to unfold itself, for love’s thousand colors to shine through. Without it, the soul goes mad, rages, storms.
The ecstasy of inner peace.
The ecstasy of stillness. That certain clear sky blue, always present above the clouds.
The ecstasy of relief after the right words of a healing sentence, the right constellation. The exhaustion after a full-day or two-day workshop.
Because, in the end, just like in meditation, with the constellation work we wipe the dust from the mirror. From the surface of the soul. We clear the clouds from the pure blue sky.
This is the ecstasy of constellations. The ecstasy of meditation.
